How much budget do I need to have a good time at Bali (hotel rates, food etc.)? Nothing extravagant, just something for a 2-3 day vacation.

Food is cheap, even if you go to a fairly nice restaurant you can get away with spending $5-20. If you eat street food it is a lot cheaper. I stayed at a nice place near ubud that was $20 a night, with pool, private bathroom with flushing toilets, breakfast included, and a fan and mosquito net (swasti cottages). You can usually hire a guide for not much money, I'm not sure of exact prices because my moms friend drove us around. over 9 years ago

For comparison, MCD with rice, coke, and a drumstick would cost Rp 15,000 (around $2). street food is cheap and would cost around that for a satisfying meal. But be careful. With tourist face on, thing would cost more expensive. For comparison, a $30 bedcover would cost $7 after my mother bargained for it. If you're going to the souvenire market, make sure you bargain about 50% of the real price. Hotel rates would depend on facilities. You can find several Hostels cost around $15 per night (bed, fan, bathroom). over 9 years ago
