Jakarta has its own zoo, but I'm not recommend it for foreign tourist. Instead, you can visit Safari Park in Cisarua-Bogor about 80 km outside Jakarta. Or you can visit Ancol dreamland, a beach in northern Jakarta. You could visit Seaworld, Dufan (a theme park), and many other attraction located in one resort. almost 7 years ago

Not recommended for safaris. Try 'kota tua' (read: old town) its an area in the center of JKT with old buildings and museums. U can walk around There. Heads up: hot and dusty.

    Authentic indonesian restaurant nearby:
    Dapur babah - central jakarta
    Sari Bundo - central jakarta
Ikan bakar cianjur - central jakarta almost 7 years ago

It is depent on your location to stay, each district has its own specialities in food, from a cheap one to the hardest.

Zoo and safaris are not recomended for foreigers, as it is normally crowd with people, unless you can stand with the crowdness. almost 7 years ago

as one of the posters before i recomend the safari park in Bogor, i was one time in Jakarta zoo and it is just typical for Asian zoo, bad accomodation for the animals. the most interesting in Jakarta zoo are the tigers i guess minimum 80.

Authentic restaurants are so many in jakarta that it is really not easy to recommend one. over 6 years ago

    Highly recommended
    1. Taman Safari zoo. On the way to puncak. Fantastic place. Don't forget to buy bananas and carrots for the animals

    2. Thousand islands. Can choose from 6-7 resorts islands, costs about 70usd per person for a day trip. Take a ferry from ancol marina. They have some excellent places for snorkeling and all this a couple hours away only. over 6 years ago

    Resto.

Literally hundreds. I would recommend the following "Indonesian" restaurants.
    1. Seribu Rasa. Jl imam bonjol, very close to grand indonesia mall, authentic Javanese food with great ambiance but pricy. About 20 usd per person

    2. Garuda Padang restaurant. Part of a chain of Padang places in the city. I like the one close to sarinah. meal about 10-15 usd per person. over 6 years ago

Go to Ragunan Zoo and see the Orang Utans, after that use Busway(cheap n easy transportation) to go to Ancol. In Ancol you must try seafood in Bandar Jakarta Restaurant. From Ancol you can use a boat or ferry to go to Thousand Islands called Pulau Seribu and enjoy snorkeling for free. Bye bye ;) over 6 years ago
