Are the trains in Indonesia comfortable?
I'm going to Jakarta and would like to take a couple of days to see Yogyakarta and are planning to go by train. Are the trains comfortable? Has anyone taken the overnight train? Does is have sleepers or is it just a seat like in an airplane? Does it have air con?

Unfortunately, overnight train from Jakarta to Yogyakarta is not comfortable We dont have sleepers. Bussines class provided with AC,soft seat, blanket and pillow. overnight train to Yogyakarta not really popular anymore, since price of air flight is cheaper. Almost as much as price of train ticket. My suggestion, use an air flight. Took only 1,5 hour and save a time. Please check www.airasia.com for lower budget flight. recommended local air flight: Mandala airlines & Garuda airlines. over 10 years ago

We took the train from Yogyakarta to a small town nearby about 3 hours away a couple of years ago: it was on time, but crowded and not air-conditioned although fine for us, and we were travelling with our two small children. over 10 years ago

The so-called business class is the equivalent of a bemo/tuk-tuk on rails! The Executive class is very nice tough, pretty much like home... over 9 years ago
