Nothing in Bali is off the beaten path. Not anymore. But relax and enjoy Ubud and all other places, it is a gorgeous country with vibrant friendly people and a colorful spiritual culture, That is what is worth going there for. And the food is unbelievably delicious. Try it all. almost 4 years ago

you can try crossing the strait to Nusa Lembongan, or Nusa Ceningan, they're part of Bali but still quiet. or go further to Gili Islands, part of Lombok. almost 4 years ago

I love trekking especially in jungle areas. You need to get up into the hills.
Climbing Mt Batur volcano for the sunrise s well worth it. Don't book with the cheap tours. Not enough guides, bad food and you miss out on going to the hot springs.
We run fitness retreats and are located 45 mins NW of Ubud in a small village and can help you with all outdoor active fun stuff. Jungle is on our doorstep. Best food in Bali - local, fresh, served in authentic Bali style. www.sharingbali.com almost 4 years ago

While nowhere is off the beaten track indeed, head east to Amed (very unspoilt) then across the top to Munduk in the mountains. (Try to find the Sanak Reyreat if you can).

The south around Seninyak and Ubud is long over trodden. Avoid. almost 4 years ago
