I'm planning on a solo trip to Yogyakarta mid-November for 3-4 days. Main focus will be Borobudur, Prambanan and Mt Merapi. Any tips for female traveling solo? Would also appreciate any recommendations for guide/driver.

The comments I've read around the internet are not encouraging for solo female travelers, mainly because of unwanted attention and obvious tourist scams.

Solo/Jogja, and Java overall is safe for solo female traveller.
I recommend you to stay in Jogja, which is about 1 hour to Borobudur, 20 minutes to Prambanan and Mt Merapi, 2 hours to Solo (which I recommend you to explore as well).
There are so many polite driver and guides, just ask to your hotel.
For the hotel, I recommend Phoenix Hotel.
No need to worry at all, Jogjakarta is the biggest tourist destination in Indonesia after Bali.
