I heard from a friend that there are beaches in North Bali that are gorgeous and empty, but we ended up going to the Kuta area. Kuta beach is SUPER dirty. We didn't end up staying there at all - instead we took a taxi (for 25 dollars total) to Karma Beach - a private beach about an hour away from Kuta. It was well worth the trip. The beach has a fee, 25 dollars I think, but that includes some food and drink. It was one of the highlights of the trip and I would definitely recommend taking a day trip there. about 5 years ago

Since you are in ubud the art culture central of bali as suggested the north beaches of lovina are empty but be warned the sand is black due to volcano ash deposits , but still beautiful. Between ubud and lovina there is a beutiful lake. Near. Singaraja Just ask your hotel for driver or arrange a cab or bemo to take you about 5 years ago

Having traveled around Bali's coastline, there are several nice beaches, but many are too isolated with few facilities and mostly black sand ones. I suggest that you go to the beautiful island of Lembongan, the largest of three islands just off the coast of southern Bali where you can catch the ferry from either Sanur or Padangbai. Enjoy!!! about 5 years ago

Least crowded & touristy are located on north-west coast. From Ubud you can day hire a driver to take you for reasonable cost. Gondol Beach & Pemuteran are best white-sand beaches in the north. almost 5 years ago
