I am traveling with my wife and 7 year old daughter to Bali in early April.
We've previously experienced the gorgeous beaches in Phuket and stayed at the Le Meridian resort there. It was a perfect beach holiday and the resort was excellent.
It's our first visit to Bali and we'd like advice on the best beach and the best beach resort for our stay.

Have you considered your own villa in Bali instead of a resort?

We have done this (and will be doing this again this week for a few days) in Bali because it works out to be more economical and a much nicer experience. Villas normally come with staff including driver and cleaner - you have the privacy of your own swimming pool and beach.

With a child who has experienced Asia before the noise of the touristy beaches shouldn't be such an issue, and there are plenty to choose from.

The noisier beaches of Kuta, Seminyak, Legian are probably best to stay clear of, they attract a loud crowd. Nusa Dua and Sanur are relatively nice and can offer private villas as well as resort style hotels.

Beach wise, I also really like Singaraja on the north (I don't know if this is how its spelt) - as well as Uluwatu which is predominantly a surf beach.
