I am looking for advice about travelling South West India... to start in Mumbai, spend time in Goa and Kerala, take a train, do some yoga ..
We have 2.5 weeks, might even consider Hampi or Pondicherry in the south east. Looking for local tour guides in Karala area.
If you have 2.5 weeks, drop Pondycherry. After Mumbai, you can do Goa and Gokarna. Hampi is not too far from there. You can proceed to Kochi in Kerala. You can get many guides in all these places. What specific advise are you looking for? about 8 years ago
What are the names of relaible tour companies that could handle arranging a tour from Goa to Cochin I think we can get to Mumbai, do Mumbia for 2 days and then on to Goa on our own)? Also, what is the best way to get from Goa to Gokarna/Hampi and then from Hampi to Kochi? We would like to take the train from Mumbai to Goa -- we have heard the India train experience is worth doing. Is this a good trip to take? about 8 years ago
In my opinion it would be better to do goa, gokarna and kochi one after the other. The train connectivity is very good along the west coast. For hampi you could first come to Bangalore and then take another train to hampi.
Travel only in second ac or third ac. Buy tickets well in advance else you won't get them.
Other alternative is flying. Bombay goa and kochi are well connected. Hampi can be done from hubli by a taxi. Hubli has an airport.
If yoga is high on your list then saswara in gokarna is the place. There is a minimum package of for 5 days. Search online for more details. about 8 years ago
