I'm going to India and may not have time to go to Nepal. Does anyone know some good places to hike in India?
In general I would say if you have time to visit the hiking regions in India you have time to visit Nepal. Bus takes ages anyway and flying is about the same distance. Sikkim is supposed to be great, same with Ladakh. You can also visit the source of the Ganga, Gangotri in Uttarakhand. It really depends what you mean by hiking, how high you want to go or how challenging you want it. over 10 years ago
I've heard there's an amazing river trek in Ladakh that you can do, but it has to be done in winter (you walk on the frozen river y'see). I would highly recommend going to Nepal - the Annapurna Base Camp trek can be done in a bare minimum of, depending on fitness, 6 or 7 days, and it is absolutely stunning.
But if you really want India, from what I've heard I'd recommend Sikkim and Ladakh. over 10 years agoAnswered by richard maddock via Travellr.com
Ladakh is a must, but you can make the trip better by doing a loop back via the Spitti Valley. It is a good way to immerse yourself in the Tibetan lifestyle and a lot less touristy then Ladakh. And great hiking!!
You could also go up to the source of the Ganges. It is right up above Rishekesh, where a glacier turns into the holy river.
For the adventurous, the most beautiful part of India is in Kashmir. Previosuly the most touristy, you will see why, with amazing mountain scenery and good hiking and skiing. Now you won't have any tourists with you which I personally loved! over 10 years agoAnswered by whoissteveanyway via Travellr.com
Kerala is one of the most beautiful place in the southern part of India and is generally called as God’s Own Country. Kerala is well known for its rich culture, traditions and beauty. There are so many magnificent places in Kerala in the form of hill stations, blue lagoons, backwaters, green lands, the natural wildlifes, mountain peaks and the picturesque valleys and the enchanting temples.
