Arriving 10.30pm Calcutta for a month in Northern India!
Are we best to book hotel close to airport! Any suggestions?
And is it worth staying there for a couple of nights?
Things to do etc!

Just returned from two weeks in India. Arrived in Calcutta late at night. The airport was much easier here than Delhi, good place to arrive. I stayed at the Sonnet hotel which is in the Salt Lake district not far from the airport. Car pick up from airport to hotel was approx. $15 US. The staff at the Sonnet went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. I was traveling solo, first time in India, and I really appreciated their care for me. Maneesha was especially helpful. The Sonnet is a "business" hotel, not too fancy, and there is a shopping center about two blocks from the hotel to stock up on any supplies you might need. over 2 years ago

    • Hey thank you! I did not get a notification that you had replied! We plan to spend a couple of nights in Calcutta then travel around for a month! Would you suggest staying the first night in this Hotel and move closer to the action? Thanks Denise Rougho over 2 years ago
