    It'll be more than a couple of trains and buses. As the crow flies it's over 2500 miles (4000 kms), but you can't go directly overland (The Himalayas) so you'd have to go via about half a dozen countries. I think the Chinese have a rail line to Tibet, so if you could get there from New Delhi it'd be a start. But foreigners are not always welcome in Chinese controlled Tibet, the central government regularly (and without notice) refuses visas.

    My grand uncle rode a bicycle in 1924 from Mumbai. It took him a few years to reach Beijing.This was an era when the British ruled most of Asia over 6 years ago
