    Hi!

It depends on the station you arrive at but assuming its Népliget...
I arrived into the Népliget Budapest bus terminal about 12:30am around late october last year, there were a lot of refugees and various other people sleeping there, but I didn't feel unsafe, its just best not to hang around too long. Its easy to get a 15min tram to the centre, stops at Astoria in the centre, there is a taxi stand but be careful not to get into one thats illegal. You will know a legal taxi because it should have a yellow number plate and a yellow taxi sign. Average fare is around 2500ft-3500ft, make sure to ask first! Trip is about 15 mins also. I have been out walking with just another friend in the early hours of the morning, and haven't felt unsafe. Its always good to be aware of your surroundings in any city but I never had issues whilst being there.

    Hope that helped!

I travelled solo to Budapest and my bus got in at 1am. I did not feel u safe at all as found a bus to the city centre and then rolled my bag on the street about a mile from the stop to my hostel. It is pretty deserted in some places and other places are party central but not once did I feel threatened. over 1 year ago
