I dont remember the exact place I stayed at but it was in Kowloon. That is the mainland part of HK. It seems to be where are the budget shopping and knock off type of stuff is. The actual island has more of the designer type shops and tends to be more expensive. Just depends what you are looking for, about 7 years ago

The YMCA is a good choice. It's pretty cheap and right in the middle of things, by the harbour. There are extra cheap flea-pits but if you want a good place and not too much money check out YMCA. about 7 years ago

For in-expensive and trendy fashion for girls, go to Allied Plaza, it's at the MTR Prince Edward station, exit B2.
It's easy to find. For big shopping malls, u can try Harbour City at Tsim Sha Tsui as well. Hope u enjoy your trip at HK. about 7 years ago

Hotel rate in HK is depending on the exhibition/convention, but September/October is comparatively better. For the location of budget hotel, there is some budget hotels located in Nathan Road (MTR Jordan station..a stop next to TsimShaTsui), like Eaton Hotel, Shamrock Hotel, Nathan Hotel. If you want it close to TsimShaTsui, you may check out Kowloon Park Hotel in Chatham Road or couple hotels in Kimberly Road. Hope it helps!! almost 7 years ago

YMCA is really very very expensive in Hong Kong, I wouldn't suggest budget travelers to stay there.

If you don't mind the shabby houses, try the Chungking Mansion, it's probably the cheaper of the cheapest.

Try this one as well, it's slightly better and I have a few friends who stayed there, and they liked it.
