Public transportation is good, though crowed sometimes. Train, buses and boats get you everywhere around. It is easy to figure out, names are also in English. over 8 years ago

The MTR is in English and Chinese. Very convenient. They do offer special rates for tourist with passport identification. For example unlimited ride for 3 days and ride to/from airport and Central station. The electric trams (with rail tracks) is cheaper and takes you around the city main core. Check here for details of MTR.

The subway (MTR) is very convenient. Can plan everything on the web beforehand. Or can download the iPhone app and use that for planning. Taxis are also very convenient and not hard to find in most cases. Minibus are very convenient too but a bit complicated for tourists. Bus are also good but are slower than subway, can also plan route on web or iPhone app. over 7 years ago

I just came back from a week in Hong Kong and not being a public transport user in Australia, I would have to say the MTR was a breeze in Hong Kong. Grab yourself an octopus card so you can just swipe it when getting on and off rather than buying a ticket every time. Super easy! over 7 years ago
