Crete, because of the Minoans! They were the ones that started the whole Greek Nature movement that has given us among others the Athenian acropolis and the Venus de Milo etc. And they were the last civilization in were men and women shared the administration and religion of their culture. And they didn't make any temple because all their religious activities happen in nature! If is not history and murals then go any island, take a boat and move around until you find the best one for you! Since each one is as amazing as the other! over 6 years ago

If you want to calm down, swim the whole day in great beaches in a very very affordable way you may want to consider Lesvos. It is not a popular destination but I would say it is destination for those who know... over 6 years ago

You should go to Kos! It's a very little island but you can make a lot of cruises and visit other islands that have amazing beaches and landscapes! Just be careful because the beach it's not in sand but with little stones! over 6 years ago

Mykonos, Milos, Simi, Koufonisia, Amorgos, Astypalaia, Paros and Crete (to big to be considered a typical island but still unbeatable if you have fifteen days to spend) over 6 years ago

Spetses and Idra. Quick hop from Athens, relaxed, good food. Decent hotels and generally beautiful.

There is also the island of Siros, in front of Mykonos. Great ambience, very good food, lots to do and a quick hop to Mykonos and Delos.

    If not, the Ionian Islands.

There are many charming islands which you can visit. Thassos is very beautiful, green island. It is proper for romatic vacation and it is preferred aslo by families with children. Other my favorite island is Folegandros. It is not among the popular tourist destinations but is calm and relaxing. If you like to party you have to visit Mykonos. It has great beaches and it is popular for its nightlife. This year in May I found very good prices for Santorini at www.hitrooms.com and I had enjoyable holiday with my family. This is very beautiful island and if you visit Greece you have to include it in your "must visit" list. over 6 years ago

if your looking to go off the beaten track a little and see some incredible nature and trekking oppurtunities- i spent two months in Greece and i did Samothrace, Limnos, Lesvos, Chios, Ikaria, Samos, Syros and Naxos. Each island was incredible and had its own distinct personality and culture. Not so many tourists, alot of the time i had the whole village to myself! Well worth going to visit these places, such a beautiful country with rich history and culture, one cant help but fall in love with the place and people. From a self declared hellenophile! Enjoy. over 6 years ago

I loved Santorini. It was absolutely beautiful. Great views and roadside eateries. The city of Oia is great at sunset. There is a Volcano you can walk/hike on with incredible views. I also rode the donkeys up the hill, what an experience. about 6 years ago
