We really enjoyed Crete but we were there late September. If you can find your way to Loutro you'll be rewarded: http://journals.worldnomads.com/simon_monk/story/10207/Greece/Heavenly-days over 6 years ago

Crete is beautiful! I did a two week tour there years ago and would love to go back. The town of Chania, Samaria Gorge, and south coast hiking are great. The food is also fabulous, not the cliched tourist grub you'd expect. over 6 years ago

Crete is a magnificent island that is very different from the others. The people are very hospitable, and there are many archaeological sites to visit. Some of the beaches are also wonderful. It is a different culture there than in the rest of Greece. over 6 years ago

Even for us Greeks, Crete has one of the best cuisines I have ever tasted, with great quality in its ingredients. It is an island with great beauty, especially in Chania and Rethymno region, but avoid places like Malia and Chersonisos, unless you only wish dancing and clubbing till morning over 6 years ago
