For Athens, i don't know a budget hotel. Stayed myself at Central Hotel. 90-100euro a night with breakfast.
Has a beautiful look on the city on the rooftop terrace.
It's very close to Syntagma square.

    For low budget.

Take the bus from airport to city centre, it saves you more then 10euro.

For dinner go near Monastiraki metrostation. There is a street with a lot of grill restaurants. You can eat here with two persons for between 10-15 euro. Containing: pita gyros, tzatziki, drinks...

Maybe others have more tips for athens? about 7 years ago

Good eating area Sander - would advise take metro from airport to Monastiraki metrostation you can eat there AND walk to Hotel Illonis - cost me 35euro 2 years back - well worth it for room and b/fast. If moving on back to Monastiraki metrostation for metro to Pirieus and ferries to anywhere! Flying Dolphin if moving around Peloponnese - stop off at Ermioni and stay at Zoe pension house 35e b&b about 7 years ago
