We are going to Greece for three weeks - one week mainland and two weeks on the islands. We are looking for recommendations on a cool interesting road trip we could do while in Greece mainland. We were recommended meteora and zagoria- can anyone be more specific? What about Pelion half island? Worth it?

One week but ...where do you start from and what do you want to see ? Anyway, assuming you start from Athens (where you will spend 2-4 days to see Acropolis and the usual sightseeings), Meteora is a great idea since it's a unique place and only 4-5 hours drive from Athens. Zagoria (and the Vickos Gorge, the biggest gorge in Europe) are a good idea for nature lovers. Pelion, on the other hand offers mountain and sea vacations in one place and near to islands like Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonisos (all 2 very beatiful with great beaches).

For the islands the best choices for someone who seeks rare stuff are Santorini and Milos. about 8 years ago

I agree with the above, you should also take in Delphi while on the road, it is worth it and not much out of your way about 8 years ago

Since you are considering zagoria and meteora, here is the route you should select.
athens-delphi-mesologion-agrinio-ioannina-zagoria-meteora-pilio-skiathos-skopelos-athens ( I have put more names here so that you can find the route in google) it is basically a circle trip apo about 1300kms more or less. of course you can also land in thessaloniki and skip some kms and concentrate more on the line zagoria-meteora-pilio-skiathos-skopelos, In such case you will have to do a bit back and forth on the same roads though. about 8 years ago
