    It's not common, however you should be alert I'm touristy areas (like everywhere in the world). I wouldn't bother carrying a money belt over 7 years ago

    Agree. Not common, but be aware that it's possible so don't provide an obvious target.Yes, September is perhaps the BEST month to visit! over 7 years ago

    Pickpocketing needs the same level of attention as any European capital now, but is especially common on the metro from the airport to Athens centre, usually via distraction. September is an excellent month to visit - still summer in the south (Crete), can be rainy on the mainland, and in the islands be sure to add a clear day between a ferry crossing and a flight in case of high winds. But it will be warm, Greek schools are back from ca. 12th onwards, and you will find tourist facilities still open and a country refreshed after the summer heat. over 7 years ago
