If the drachma is reintoduced is it still advisable to visit greece as a holiday destination in july2012
They reckon if the drachma was reintroduced it would be worth half the value of the euro which means Greece would become a very cheap destination for foreign tourists. It wouldn't work out so great for the Greeks themselves though. It's a shame such woes have befallen such a beautiful country. It needs all the tourists it can get to help pay off its debts, tourism is the main thing Greece has going for it.
The islands, I believe are still peaceful. Athens, where the main demonstrations are taking place, can be dodgy if you happen on a demonstration. This may extend to some other cities on the mainland too. almost 6 years ago
