As suggested, the Acropolis is a must along with the Parthenon and while your there the newly built Acropolis museum is an absolute MUST when you consider it houses some the greatest modern Archaeologoical artifacts from the Ancient times which will blow your mind. Of course Plaka is a touristic must with it's neoclassical architecture and it's also about the only place in Athens you will visit where NO cars are allowed not that they would fit through the narrow roads even if they were allowed and so it is a welcome getaway from the hustle, bustle and noise of downtown Athens. I'd even dedicate an evening or two in Piraeus which is the main Port of Greece and stroll along the edge of the harbor from Pasalimani (known as Zea Marina) all the way to Mikrolimani (small Port) whereby aside the beautiful yachts and ships you see, there is a haven of eateries serving fresh seafood in the many tavernas and once you've done that, pop in for a drink and/or a dance into one of the many bars and/or clubs. For me personally though, when in any part of Greece, it's all about FOOD, FRIENDS & FUN. the Greek cuisine and it's diversity makes it the most tastiest of any cuisine the world has to offer and couple that with some of the best scenery the world has to offer and you will start to understand why the mythological Ancient Gods chose Greece as their paradise on earth!!! about 6 years ago
