There are about 13,000kms of autobahn and most of it are unlimited speed limits. However, two things. Firstly, there are some stretches with limits for safety, local or environmental needs and secondly, it is hard to attain really high speeds in most cases, due to other traffic, especially lorries and on/off ramps and service Reas, construction etc. you'll find more about them at this link - http://www.gettingaroundgermany.info/autobahn.shtml - enjoy and be safe! about 9 years ago

No speed limit on the autobahn. Be sure to stay in the right lane. If you pass a car, go fast because others will be going extremely fast. almost 8 years ago

There are speed limits in many areas! Don't listen to anyone that says otherwise. The recommended speed is 130 kph if you see a white circular sign with a black edge and 3 diagonal black lines on it, that sign indicates unlimited speeds. The main tip I can give is to always check your rearview mirror just before changing lanes. What was an empty road behind you can be suddenly filled with a fast moving car. almost 8 years ago
