In Berlin, it's worth heading north to Oranienburg to visit the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. You can get there by S-Bahn. On the southeast side, visit the impressive Soviet War Memorial in Treptower Park. If you really want to go off the beaten path from Berlin, consider hopping a train for a day trip to Goerlitz, a town on the border with Poland that is like stepping into a fairy tale. almost 7 years ago

King Ludwig's Castle is far and away the # 1 spot to see in and around Munich. If you haven't been there and toured it, then you haven't been to Munich. Walt Disney even copied it for his Disney World castle.
The Hofbrau House. They have their own brewery, just for this rambunctious beer hall. Liter mugs of great German beer ( no preservatives allowed, anywhere in country ),..slamming mugs when the oompha band starts up,..a festive party every night !!! almost 7 years ago
