    Yes there are! I was in Berlin a couple of years ago and there was a free walking tour, starting from the Brandenburg gate. Run by students who are very informative. Well worth it, however they do ask for tips ($) at the end, but you can choose to pay what you feel it was worth or pay nothing at all. Google free walking tours Berlin.     There is a site called Sandemans new europe Berlin. They got really good guides and they are working also for a tip. The tour takes you around to the important sights in central Berlin and takes 2-3 hours. about 8 years ago
