I will be traveling to Lyon France in April and I have an 8 hour layover in Stuttgart from 9am to 5pm on my way there and a 14 hour over night layover on my way back. Are there any quick adventures that are suggested I check out? Any good restaurants and maybe an art museum? Also any good night life for my overnight stay or at least a good place to get a cheap beer?

Downtown is a nice city to walk around. The tourist office just by the train station is very helpful with maps and organised walking tours of the city. That said the inner city is compact and easy to walk around. Most of the older part of the city lies up near the square where you have a number of museums and the castle. In behind the tourist office is a lovely park with the New Castle. The park goes on for miles and is a great place to take a stroll.

If you fancy a trip on the local trains, the Mercedes museum and the Porsche museum are not too far away. Make sure you check opening times before you go as the can close for private functions. about 6 years ago

If you have little ones I believe there is a Lego land close to there, and it is really fun for adults too! You should also check out cannstatter wasen, which is definetly one of the best kept secrets of Germany. Then if you are a car person, there's the mercedes-Benz museum. Also Television Tower (Fernsehturm), Schloss Solitude, and Wilhelma Zoo and Botanical Garden are interesting sites as well. almost 6 years ago

The Mercedes museum. My favorite attraction in Stuttgart. Not just a car museum, but a history of 20th century Germany. Do not miss it. about 5 years ago
