The paris bike system is the biggest in the world and quite cheap you just need a credit card with an EMV chip (and you need to know your PIN)
Check out the wikipedia article for more info

If this is not an option or you are going in the winter and want to avoid the cold. The metro system in Paris is great. Goes basically everywhere including out to places like Versailles over 11 years ago

Go the Metro. Easy, cheap, reliable and comprehensive. Why every city doesn't have such a great system I'm never know. over 11 years ago

Walking...you get to see so much that you would miss otherwise.

Alternatively, I got a week long bus and metro ticket which worked well for me. The bus system is great and easy to understand and the metro is good and reliable. over 11 years ago

I agree with tillybean. Walking is by far the best way around Paris. You get to see so much more than been on a bus. We found so many little places to grab a bit to eat, sit and enjoy the sun, famous hotels etc. over 11 years ago

Yes, walking is the best way but sometimes, you need to get across the city quickly and that's when the Metro is the absolute best. It is a fantasic system and so well organised. Buy a book of 10 tickets (a carnet) for discount prices. over 11 years ago
