My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Europe in May 2012. What is a good length of time to spend in Paris so we can see the must do's? Our total trip is about 2 weeks and we're planning on going to 3 cities in Italy after our time in Paris. I tend to plan too much time in one place and then get itchy to move to the next destination.

    Hi CT,

A few days in Paris will give you the bare minimum to see some of the sights and culture in Paris - lets put it this way... if you are an art lover you could easily spend a few days in the Louvre! There is a lot going on in Paris - you'll only get to "see" a few of the landmarks, but you won't really get to experience the true magic of the place in under a week. Try and stretch your time there a little further...trust me, it's worth it!

I had a week in Paris a few years back and only scratched the surface. A day at the Champ de Mars (picnic) and Eiffel Tower. A day in the Louvre will allow you to whizz past La Gioconda (Mona Lisa) and the Venus de Milo. We had most of a day looking at impressionist art at the Musee D'Orsay. A day at Versailles. A visit to the Pompidou centre, and a day or two just for wandering around the left bank. 4 major European cities in 2 weeks (including travel time), you're going to be exhausted and need another vacation when you're done. I suggest you pick ONE thing you'd like to do in each city, and do it well. You'll want to return again and again. over 9 years ago
