Is it worth climbing the Eiffel Tower?
When I research the Eiffel Tower, it is difficult to determine if going up it is worth it. Suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. I will be visiting the second week in September.

Cliche as it might be, I'd have to say it is. The view of Paris is unique. Just be careful of pickpockets who target people queuing up ... over 9 years ago

I agree, as touristy as it is, it's iconic and a wonderful view of the city. It would be a pity to go all the way there only to stand at the base looking up! over 9 years ago

If you have time to wait through the line, yes. If your trip is limited, use your time elsewhere. over 9 years ago

Yes, and climb to the top of Notre Dame too! over 9 years ago

Yes defn worth it if it's your first time!! Eiffel is iconic you should have the once of a life time experience on being at the top of the famous tower. However perhaps you'd may only want to do it once and that's it.... over 9 years ago

Take the elevator. Go at night. over 9 years ago

No. Because the paris skyline is so low, the view is just as pretty from the 2nd deck or Montmartre. I wouldn't wait in the line when there are so many awesome things to do and see. over 9 years ago

Yes big time. it's an icon of Paris. However when I was there & did it many years ,I don't really recall climbing it rather going up an escalatar. For security reasons, if I recall correctly, the stairs were closed. Another reality busted for me cause after watching James Bond etc it had been the way I'd visualised I would go up the tower. It is not the same as climbing a building made of bricks & mortar, you can see between the girders so it's not just to do with the view but the uniquesness of its architecture. Mind you, for me, to do it once was enough. I'm happy to gaze up an its amazing spectacle from the base now. over 9 years ago

I think if you're going to go and visit it anyway it would be a shame not to go up, even if it's only a once in a lifetime experience! Yes the queues are long, but there are ways to get around them. I can recommend http://www.eiffeltowertickets.co.uk/ for tips on how to avoid the queues as well as a place to get skip the line tickets - you can also have a look and see what else there is to do in the area so you don't have to go just to see the Tower. over 9 years ago

Of course it is!! Take some nice pics over there and have dinner at the restaurant over there... You can also climb La Tour de Montparnasse, it's taller and you'll also get a great view and there's a Paris historical museum where they describe the way the city was organized by blocks... over 9 years ago

Do it! Take the elevator. We were in Paris last month and the Eiffel Tower is one of the highlights of an extraordinary trip. We paid the extra fee to go to the top. It is well worth. Don't go all the way to Paris and not have this experience. Also, if you can do over 250 steps, go up to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Nice views and photo ops from there too. If you go in the evening you can watch the Eiffel Tower light up. Many tourist attractions get crowded, so just be patient. In a place like Paris it is worth the wait! about 9 years ago

Nope,
it's expensive and there are long queues. For a better view go up La Tour de Montparnasse. Top of the Arc de Triomphe, or Montmartre are less pocket hungry and cooler. about 9 years ago -
I didn't climb it when I was there, but I did go up in the Tour de Montparnasse and for only 12 euros and no queues, it was a wonderful alternative. And I liked seeing the Eiffel Tower from the the Montparnasse rather than not being able to see the Eiffel Tower. over 8 years ago

I was happier to spend an hour wandering through the lesser-visited streets surrounding the Eiffel Tower. Lots of hidden gems in Paris if you get away from the touristy stuff. Climbing the Eiffel tower is not worth the time/$/experience in my opinion. over 8 years ago

Yes of course. The view is amazing, and I would recommend drinking hot chocolate up there. The sensation is amazing. over 8 years ago
