I'm heading to south france for a bike trip. However I preferred not to plan everything before going, so I can let the occasion guide me, but I'm insecure about going there without reservation and find no place to sleep. My travel goes from May 14 to June 12.
is it easy to find place to camp?

No problems. At the same time last year, I did a 5 week bike trip from Nice, through Provence and the south-east, up the Rhone Valley and then north east up the Isere river to Annecy. I just checked for campsites marked on maps along my route and turned up at the end of the day. I double-checked at tourist information centres when I was close. There was always a site for a solo camper with tent. I only had to go further out of town once, at Vaison-La-Romaine. I mostly stayed out of the biggest towns. I had a perfectly flexible trip just following my nose, varying route and duration as I wished.

May we'll be more than fine. You should be careful for the second half of June. It will be the very beginning of french schools holidays. over 7 years ago
