I'll be interested in the answer, too, since everything I've seen is far too luxurious and huge! I've wandered the Internet sites off and on for a couple of years. I don't want five star accommodation; I want one star. I don't think it exists. almost 9 years ago

Never done it but I did holiday in Languedoc last year & there is the Canal Midi which runs east from Toulouse to the Mediterranean via Carcassonne with its beautiful restored medieval centre, well worth a stopover. I noticed a good few barges on the canal. over 8 years ago

We've just booked a Houseboat/Barge holiday in the south of France through a company called locaboat (www.locaboat.com). The boats look neat, the prices seem very reasonable & the website has lots of info about trips & types of boats. It was easy to book online. The local regional tourist authority list this company & others on their website http://en.sunfrance.com/search_result/canal_holidays_and_cruises_in_languedoc_roussillon over 8 years ago
