I fly into Paris, Orly and need to get to Carentan in the same day. I found an itinerary on romeo2rio but its kind of tricky (doable if necessary).
I do not want to rent a car - does anyone have any advice about how to get from Orly airport to Carentan with sadly, my limited amount of French - although I am happy to try the best I can!
I know that French Railways has a train from Paris to Carentan, but I can't find where the PAR Paris station is .. is it St Lazare station?
Also is it necessary for me to buy a ticket in advance? I've tried on the Rail Europe website however it won't allow me to view it for June 3rd..even though I was able to view and purchase a different train for June 17th..
thank you in advance :)
The Orly - Paris train arrives at Gare du Nord.
Trains to Carentan leave from St Lazare
(here's a schedule of trains: http://www.bonjourlafrance.com/trains_paris_st_lazare_train_station_to_carentan_train_station_143_248.aspx )
To transfer between GDN and SL take the metro. About 25 minutes.
maybe check out some of the D-Day tours that depart from Paris by bus. Some of them leave from Gare du Nord, eliminating the need to transfer. Just a thought.
And check out or France travel safety tips (such as, don't buy tickets from anyone who approaches you at the station - it's a used ticket).
