Best things to do in Bordeaux? Do I need a car?
Am staying in Bordeaux in September to take part in the Marathon du Medoc. After the ridiculous run I'm staying for a week in Bordeaux. What things should I see there that aren't tourist traps, and should I invest in a rental car so that I can visit the vinyards outside of the city?

you could head down the coast to Briarittz a trendy beach town. The whole coastline is awesome, lots of nice beaches.
I reckon renting a car would be a good idea so you could explore. almost 12 years agoAnswered bywhoissteveanyway via

In Bordeaux, there’s lots to see and not just tourist traps … !
Here are the best things to do in Bordeaux : http://en.koifaire.com/aquitaine/bordeaux/33300/ (at least, in my opinion …) :
The architecture in Bordeaux is really beautiful, so a good look around the city is a must. Boat trips are also a good idea for discovering this place.
There are museums, like the Musée des Négociants (the history of great wine families), the "Entrepots Lainé", great chateaux (the chateaux of the Medoc), a Casino, the Opera house, public parks, the great theatre of Bordeaux, and of course, wine-tasting !
It’s not really a tourist city like the towns and villages of the Mediterranean or Atlantic coasts, so not really tourist traps, no worries there ! Also, Bordeaux has a tramway, so I think the best thing to do would probably be to hire a bike ! over 9 years agoAnswered by Herve viaWorldNomads.com

I agree with Herve, no need to hire a car as there is plenty to do and see in the city. Free transport makes is super easy to get around too. about 3 years ago
