Several must see places in Helsinki, however if I only had time for one it would be Suomenlinna - the fortress island. over 7 years ago

I do agree. Helsinki by Sea cruises leaving from Kauppatori (the Market Square) are as well a must. There are several operators and several routes. I would recommend the easterly route. If the weather is good you'll see the nice seaside villas especially in Jollas. The views of the city centre are as well nice from the sea. over 7 years ago

Hotels: I'd say the Helsinki hotels are independent of their star rating in good condition. I would select a hotel in an area from Esplanadi (the Esplanade - the park reaching out from the Market Square) to Mannerheimintie (the main street in the centre on the town). Hotel Kämp has of course one of the best locations. Hotel Marski is good as well. Additionally there are several Scandic and Sokos hotels in the centre as well. All pretty much the same. Choose the main railway station as your starting point - 1 km radius from there and you are in good spot. over 7 years ago

If you plan to visit in summer I'd suggest also Seurasaari open air museum. It is located on a beautiful green island just a few kilometres from the heart of Helsinki. Linnanmäki amusement park is one of the most visited tourist attractions of Finland as well. over 7 years ago
