Many years ago I took a motorcycle across southern Finland, looping around a quite large lake in the southeast. Riding through the tall, dense forests that surrounded the lake was transformative.
One August afternoon there was a light snowfall while we were out on the fort in the Helsinki harbor. My friend who was with me commented: "We Finns, we like our summers. They are short but there is little snow.". Thinking of her comment always brings a smile to my face. about 7 years ago
