Visit during the non cyclone / rainy season which is from nov-mar. So April to oct should be good but they recently had really bad flooding. Can't say if it's safe for a single girl but I travelled alone and it's fine for me but I'm a guy about 7 years ago

Vinaa, re Tony's comment on the recent flooding.... all back to normal now (for visitors at least). The flooding was an example of why it's best to avoid that cyclone (hurricane) season. Even if the storms don't get to cyclone strength they can be pretty damaging.
Re safety: it kind of depends what you'll be doing. If you're sticking to the popular tourist areas and staying at a resort, you'll have very little to worry about.
Fijians are generally pretty friendly, but if you're going to explore some of the off-the-beaten-track locations exercise the usual caution.
It's not a great idea to walk alone on any isolated beaches day or night regardless of where you are.
I've been with my family, and we do stick to the resorts, and I've always felt comfortable to let my kids have (limited) free range within the grounds.
    You'll love Fiji, it's great.

I have been to Fiji several times alone and found it to be very safe. the. Ab drivers in Nadi are known to be 'very friendly' but other than that Fijians are very friendly hospitable people, they are very laid back. almost 7 years ago
