What are some recommendations for must see sites during 3 days in Dublin and then 3 days in/around Belfast?
Finishing a whirlwind trip around Ireland with adult kids and now have 6 days alone to explore central Dublin and area around Belfast (3 days each) before returning to US. Any must see recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks! (Restaurant recommendations too, please)
For Dublin I would suggest spending a day doing the bus tour. It will bring you to most of the spots in Dublin including Guinness Storehouse (you can spend an entire afternoon here) Jamesons brewery, Dublin Castle, the 5 'squares' of Dublin as well as Trinity college (the book of kells) and Grafton street. Temple bar is worth a visit but beware, the drinks can be pricy. Try out a pub called Mulligans in Poolbeg street for a great pint of Guiness. If you fancy a day trip from Dublin, I would recommend a day up around Newgrange/Knowth/Dowth (megalithic tombs) / Hill of Tara. You can also go south to the Wicklow way, Avoca, Glendalough. over 6 years ago
As for restaurants in Dublin, it depends on your taste/budget. Some I would recommend, Tanta Zoe's in Temple bar www.tantezoes.com, for mexican Acapulo on George Street www.acapulco.ie, Rustic Stone on George street rusticstone.ie, Diep le Shaker
Pembroke Lane for Thai. For some pub grub, many pubs in Dublin will do good food but the variety in O'Neills on Suffolk Street is good over 6 years ago
For Belfast, again I would recommend the open top bus tour. It will bring you to the main stops in Belfast. Last time was there, there were taxi driver tours for small groups that would give you a tour of the areas of Belfast that would give you a great insight into the city during the 'troubles'. Not sure who does these now but your hotel I'm sure will be able to assist. over 6 years ago
