Such a huge question! I prefer Turkey - mainly because I lived there, you have the diverse range of options such as big cities like Istanbul or Ankara, party towns like Bodrum, quieter areas like Kas or Kemer, or amazing locations such as Cappadochia.

Eastern Turkey is still fairly undiscovered by tourism and I really like the Black Sea area - so pretty.

Depends on what you want to do. If its lying on a beach all day and hitting bars in the evening, then Fethiye/Calis/Bodrum etc would definitely hit those marks; if its culture; great food; travelling around, then start off in Istanbul and use local bus companies which cover the whole of Turkey. Very easy to get around and also cheap. The rail network doesnt go everywhere and I would avoid hiring a car. over 9 years ago

Both beautiful, but avoid the austerity strikes in Greece and go to Turkey.

With that said Greece is an absolute amazing destination, that just can't be beat (my opinion) As a Scandinavian I have traveled to most mediteranean countries, I can say that Greece is the most scenic and atmospheric country of all with exceptional people and absolute fantastic cuisine. And by now because of this I have traveled 16 times to Greece by now.

    So why Greece above Turkey?

-Both Turks and Greeks are hospitable to me, but I find the Greeks to show a bit more hospitality and definetly have MORE respect towards women than Turks. Turks tend to keep going after you trying to sell stuff. So Greeks for me. And next to that I have had so many great experiences with Greeks, that I feel solely indepthed to them. They enrich your heart!

When staying in Turkey I have become 2 times sick out of 3 times I traveled there.
And next to that I have been to the inland of Turkey. You get suprised because then you see how poor people are here. Istanbul, Kas etc are just one side of Turkey. Inland was just a 3rd world country! And their Hygiene as well.
So when in Greece, Hygiene is much better. There is a reason why Greeks become 13 years on average older than the average Turk.

Both Greek and Turkish cuisine is better. I like turkish kofte. But my best experiences where mostly in Greece. In Hios I have eaten the best fish in my entire life and in Crete I have had the best lamb in my entire life. Both countries have a rich cuisine. I prefer Greek cuisine in the end.

    - Then Greece has so many things. Greek Islands are just absolutely wonderful!! They are world class. With many Islands each respectively chosen as one of the worlds greatest islands.

-Greece has 6000 islands and 16000 Km of coastline. Wich is the most in all of the mediterranean. And Greece is wonderfully diverse and places like Meteora or Santorini are unique in the world.

-When going to the mainland of Greece you will find a vast amount of history in all of the places and beautiful rich nature and scenery to die for! Greece stole my heart!! about 7 years ago

We stayed on the island of Rhodes in Greece, which is close to Turkey and has a little bit of both worlds influencing it. We stayed at Melanos Lindos and it was a lovely experience. about 7 years ago

I am a huge fan of #Turkey. The sense of hospitality was amazing. In Greece I found, except in very tiny towns, that people were tired of the endless stream of tourists.
