Best way to travel Europe

about 3 years ago about Europe

Next year, on July 5th, I will be backpacking Europe for 3 months starting in Copenhagen and traveling to about 20 countries/stops. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to travel around. I have a general idea on where I'm going but it's not a set schedule, so I won't be able to buy months in advance flights. If I go with budget flights I would be purchasing the ticket in less than a weeks advance. Would it be smart to buy a 3 month Eurail pass or just stick with budget airlines? Are there any other means of transportation that are easier/cheaper? Also any other tips for backpacking for an 18 y/o male would be greatly appreciated.

Travelling by bus is always going to be cheapest way. Trains can be more expensive than the low cost carriers like Ryanair, Eastjet, Vueling etc, Skyscanner.com will guide you there. Best advice is try to book the big journeys/flights now and ‘wing it’ with journey between airports, if that’s how you want to roll.
It is worth researching ‘contiki’ tours. You’ll be with fellow travellers around your age. It would be a lot of fun. It’s a lump of cash to spend but you would spend this on travel if you were to do it all yourself anyway. At least there are lots of people to meet and enjoy the travels with. Starting with this would also get you familiar with how it works in Europe and travelling after with confidence of how things work.
Hostelworld.com will be useful for finding cheap dorms. And for money I would recommend an online bank called ‘Revolut’. You can transfer your dollars to euros with best rates and easily on their app. You use their debit card just like you were home using your home bank. Read the terms to the accounts available.
Good luck and have a great trip about 3 years ago

Have a look at the Euro railpass. I think it can be a great way to travel around Europe:
