I'm Canadian and I'm traveling through Europe for 6 weeks. I'd like to buy a SIM card there with lots of data, talk and text. Is this possible for a short term or will I have to commit to 1 year. Can anyone recommend cell phone providers?
Hi - I'm based in the UK and here we have loads of different options. You can go onto virtually any High St here and chose a telecoms shop - they'll all be able to offer you a SIM only deal which is a 'Pay as you Go'. Therefore, you are not tied into any 12 month contract and only pay for what you use.
There are thousands of different options you can have - all very easy to understand and any agent can talk you through them.Clearly, this will work well in the UK, however should your plans be on continental Europe, then I'm afraid you'll need to get other country info as appropriate.
Main UK providers: Vodafone / EE / O2. Then there's a raft of smaller providers who will all offer the same / similar services. Trust me, it's not difficult once you get here.
