I have planned a trip around europe. My worry is driving on the icy roads with a small rental car. Is it safe?
Below is a link of the places im traveling too would the roads be open and available to travel on? and im also concered about not reaching my next destination in time to use my prebooked accomodation? Should I prebook as it might be alot more expensive and I might not get a booking on arrival.
Thank you this is my first time in europe in the winter so im hoipng to see some wonderful sites but am concered about getting to the various places.
Good (and detailed) question. I'll look into it further, but in the meantime here are some tips about driving on snow and ice.

This will be a lovely trip. This route is all freeway (autobahn) and they always make the freeway very good snowfree in Germany and Austria (Italy I don't know, but I guess too), so that won't be a problem. I would book your accomodation in advance, because some places can be crowded because of the skiing season. Arriving later in a hotel is also not a problem, if you just call the hotel. Innsbruck is lovely and if you have the time I recommend to stop in Verona too. Have a nice trip! about 6 years ago
