Backpacking in Europe for 3 months. Can't decide if I should bring it. I will have my iPhone with me so I can just do browsing on it...but I have a perfectly good iPad I can bring with me for a better experience during downtimes. However, I leave open the possibility of it being stolen. Pros? Cons? Is it worth it?

    Since you've an iPhone, you don't really need an iPad for few reasons.

    1. You should travel as little and light as possible especially doing backpacking in Europe;

    2. During downtime in a bus or train, there are many things to see, experience and interact as well. Don't waste the opportunity and time on iPad, instead enjoy what the trip has to offer;

    3. The overseas roaming charges will be expensive and since iPad is more 'enjoyable' than the iPhone, you will tend to surf longer, thus more expensive in the end;

    4. One more expensive and valuable thing to lose or damage during the trip.

    You should definitely consider bringing it, many hostels have wifi, and it is much easier to book them from an iPad. I usually bring just the iPad 2 with me when I travel, it works really well. over 6 years ago
