    I love getting spices from the market - very fresh and cheap compared to back home.

    You could pick up some baklava (or similar).

    Hi - if you come from Australia there are some restrictions taking things back in, particularly on foodstuffs. For example if you take spices they are better ground up. I really like Egyptian cotton things - clothes, bed linens, scarves etc. - and perfumes are wonderful. Hand painted fabrics, papyrus paintings and woven mats from carpet shops are also great souvenirs. Gold and silver are quite cheap. I also love the scarab beetles that you can find carved from stone such as alabaster, or sometimes even glass. You'll be spoiled for authentic souvenirs :-)
