Yes this will be enough if you compact your visits
You can dedicate one day in Cairo to visit the Pyramids of Giza, Memphis and Sakkara
The other day you can go to the Egyptian Museum, Citadel of Salah El Din, Old Coptic Cairo and Khan El Khalili Bazaar
Then the third day this will be for Luxor but to make it possible this has to be by flight, you leave in the mornign visit Luxor East and West bank and if there is time before your flight you can have a felucca ride to banana island then return back to Cairo at night. about 7 years ago

No, no way, not in my view. Of course you have Giza, which is a day by itself, Saquera and surrounds was another excellent day, and Cairo has much to offer itself. And that's before you head south. about 7 years ago

I think you'd be spreading yourself too thin. I'd suggest staying in Cairo and seeing what you can, without the stress of trying to take in two cities. about 7 years ago

In my opinion If you are having a vacation in Egypt why squish yourself in 3 days to do the impossible to cover two cities. I think you'd better choose one to spend the three days, Cairo has tons of stuff and Luxor has even the world's three quarters of open door museums. I'd say relax and just enjoy only one city instead of stressing yourself if you are using train transportation from Cairo to Luxor.

But it can be doable by flight....it will save you 10 - 12 hrs riding in a train...and as love_egypt said it can be doable with good organizing. about 7 years ago

The time is really tight. To achieve 3 full days for sightseeing you would actually need to be overnighting the night before you start sightseeing. ie 4 nights arriving day one, sightseeing days 2,3 and 4, then depart on day 5. You need a full day for the pyramids and the main sights in Cairo. To do Luxor in one day is very difficult since the number of flights has reduced so I would overnight there and have the extra time taking in the more local atmosphere and the history and then time your flight Luxor to Cairo to connect with the international flight departing from Egypt thus avoiding a potential waste of half a day travelling within Cairo. If you want any help organising just let me know, about 7 years ago

I agree with most of the others...only 3 days I would forget bout Luxor....if u had 1 more day...maybe...but Luxor is pretty far from Cairo....so it would have to be by air, if ur crunched for time about 7 years ago

Hi - in Egypt almost anything is doable. :-) It's not optimum to only have 3 days to do these two incredible cities but you could do it if you fly between the cities and you only spend a little time at Cairo's main attractions :-) In Cairo choose from Saqqara, Giza (pyramids), the Museum, the Citadel, the Khan and Islamic Cairo, Coptic Cairo. In Luxor there's the West Bank, Valley of the Kings etc., and the temples of Karnak and Luxor on the East Bank, as well as the Museum. A lot is going to depend on your international flight times....

    all the best

Go to one city or the other, don't try to visit both.
I say just go to Luxor if you can. Together, the tombs and temples, river, desert and suqs of Luxor are the best way to experience Egypt if you only have a few days there. It's small and quiet enough at these places that you will be able to relax and enjoy and still experience all the wonders. almost 7 years ago

We have just returned from a cruise that spent 2 days in Egypt . We hired Ramses Tours, a young private tour company for our time there .We had a tour guide name Mohammed Doma & a driver who were both excellent especially with the way they drive in Cairo. They will take you were you want to go . We saw the Pyramids of Saqqara, Giza, Spinx, We didnt have any trouble with all the hawkers trying to sell stuff to us ,Doma kept them away.We also saw a lot of Alexandria, Mosque ,Library ,fort, Museum (,Catacombs) these are worth seeing. Sailed on the Nile in Feluca traditional boat. They gave us a free camel ride this was interesting we were surprised that we did enjoy it. Our guide was very knowledgeable & we learnt heaps This for us was the best way of seeing Egypt . Prices were very reasonable almost 7 years ago
