The US has issued a warning about over-agressive vendors intimidating tourists (read more here: http://safety.worldnomads.com/Contents/Item/Display/3702) but what's your experience, is it dangerous? Have you been recently and were you dangerously hassled by vendors?

Yes it is. There are some touts around, just ignore them and walk quickly if they become too pushy over 5 years ago

Hassan, what about that US govt report, have you heard anything abut that kind of incident. I'm curious as to the circumstances that would precipitate sich a thing.

It's definitely safe but some vendors are a little too clingy. Just tell them "rabena yesahelak" and they will eventually leave. over 5 years ago

The world is not the same place it was 20 years ago, but by following some cautions we can reduce risks. The pyramids area is used to a flow of tourists so at least your never alone. Don't stand out. Appear like a backpacker traveler, not a Gucci bag tourist. Hustlers know the backpackers are savvy and would rather target an easier "greener" tourist. almost 5 years ago
