We went independently as a family in 2008 and just hired a taxi on the street for the whole day. Not only can you do Giza but they'll also take you to Saquerra - well worth the effort.

Having seen the pyramids so many times on the TV or in National Geographic, I thought we might be disappointed.

Not so. A most memorable trip. We found Cairo fascinating too. over 7 years ago

The Pyramids is located in Giza about 12 Km from down town Cairo. If you are in a hotel in down town Cairo you can take a taxi that can cost you about 50-60 LE approx 10 dollars the entrance fees to the pyramids is 60 Le per person (10$). If your hotel is in Heliopolis it is further away so expect to pay more for the taxi. Many hotels offer a day tour to the Pyramids however it will be cheaper if you book it with a local travel agency. over 7 years ago
