The situation is somewhat fluid in Egypt, especially after last Friday's recurrence of large-scale protests. Lots of Egyptians are unhappy with President Morsi's announcement to assume certain powers and feel it's a return to the bad old days. There's talk of a general strike, and there are protests springing up across the country, but especially in Cairo's tarir Square.
The good news - these protests rarely affect the sites popular with tourists. Even at the height of the revolution there were only minor disturbances in Luxor. I'd guess it'd be very unlikely you'll see trouble there this December. However, as a precaution keep an eye on news and developments, check with your tour provider about what arrangements they're putting in place, and check with hotel staff each day before you hed out, and ask them to identify potential trouble spots. Of course, avoid all public gatherings and demonstrations. over 5 years ago

    Hey Jay,
I will be travelling to Luxor on the same date.
According to the travel informations, everything should be fine over there...
As I am traveling on my own, lots of my friends are quite worried but as per the previous comment... We are going to a very touristic place so demonstrations should be really minimal...
