We'd prefer to avoid tourist places and the big hotels and we are travelling with a young family. Any suggestions

    Two not mentioned:

    Taboula - located near the British Embassy in the Garden area of Cairo. Great Lebanese food, well cooked, lovely setting, good prices.

    Felfella - located fairly close to the Cairo Museum - fantastic.

    If you can do hotels, then the Steak house in the Four Seasons Nile Plaza was lovely - good staff, great menu. about 11 years ago
