Ecuador volcanoes? is it safe?
I'd really like to go to Ecuador, but i'm a little worried about the volcanoes there - are they really dangerous? They have one called the fiery throat and it looks really fierce!!!

Hiking around Ecuador's volcanoes is a popular activity.... best to check with the local authorities if there's been any recent activity or signs the volcano is about to blow its top. The popular backpacker destination Banos was closed in 2010 after some severe eruptions.
We have some information and tips for hiking safely on the WorldNomads.com safety hub.

Please do wear appropriate clothing.... leaning in with a stick to poke the lava is not the smartest thing to do either! almost 10 years ago -
Some of my favorite times in Ecuador were spent on and around volcano's. 99.9% of the time they are perfectly safe and to my understanding most volcanic activity gives off some kind of warning sign. If hiking on the hardened lava, good footwear is a must. almost 10 years ago
