Busses in Ecuador
Can anyone give me any insight into taking busses in Ecuador (safety, logistics, etc.)? I will be taking a couple of busses from Quito to the coast near Pedernales. Thanks!!

Ecuador has an extensive and cheap costing bus system. Stop by the clubhouse and we will share our extensive information on buses out of Quito. over 7 years ago

Phil, no disrespect intended but since you write the article, what is YOUR experience? I mean, since I have asked this question, I've had the opportunity to talk to many people who have been to Ecuador as well as people who live there. Their opinions is dramatically different then yours. In other words, you paint the experience of bus travel as a nightmare and I'm just wondering how accurate of a portrayal that is. over 7 years ago

I'm in Ecuador at the moment. I've been on lots of buses, all straightforward and reasonably comfortable. It's annoying getting between bus stations in Quito but not dangerous. I've met a few people who've had their bags slashed and things stolen while under the seat but I always keep mine on my lap and haven't had any problems. My large bag always travels underneath the bus and is locked and, other than a bit of dirt, no problems there either. Have a good trip over 7 years ago
