While I'm in Copenhagen I would like to try the typical danish cuisine. Can anybody recommend any dishes and restaurants?

For a daytime meal, I can recommend Danish smørrebrød - open sandwiches. Ida Davidsen is a smørrebrød restaurant in the city centre that has 250 different varieties (http://www.idadavidsen.dk/index.php?page=8). Typical smørrebrød with rye bread can include prawns and mayonnaise, salmon and egg, or roast beef and remoulade dressing, as well as many different types of pickled herring.

You can also find smørrebrød in many more traditional Copenhagen cafes if the length of the Ida Davidsen menu is a little daunting! almost 12 years ago

Typical danish means include Meatballs w/ potatoes and All variations on meat, basically. Try on the different local pubs and small places in CPH City area, and you'll find it easily. Avoid touristy areas; they tend to be internationalized foodwise.
Though, in Nyhavn,( the old harbour ) you'll find some original restaurants that offer Classic danish seafood dishes, allthough touristy and expensive.
Galatea kroen is a place for good old classic stuff too. over 9 years ago
